A Protective Shield for the High Country
In the high country, our lips are the first to feel the shift in the seasons. Whether you are facing the frost of a New England winter or the dry heat of a summer afternoon, your lips require more than just a coating—they require biological replenishment.
This ritual is designed to transform a simple application into a moment of intentional protection.
The Step-by-Step Ritual
1. PREP THE CANVAS: Before applying, ensure your lips are clear of any debris. If you have been outdoors, use a damp, warm cloth to gently press against your lips for ten seconds. This softens any dry skin and prepares the lipid barrier to receive the nutrient-dense balm
2. SELECT YOUR STYLE:
-
- The Swirler: For those with patience, gently rub the surface to create a light, silken sheen.
-
The Digger: If you’re like me and prefer the "scoop" method, use the tip of your finger or the back of your nail to dig in. It’s a concentrated, waterless balm—it’s built to be used, not just admired.
3. APPLY: sweep the balm from the centre outward. If you went with the "Digger" method, you’ve likely got a generous layer—perfect for a long afternoon in the New England wind.
4. SEAL: Press your lips together. This locks the Lanolin and Beeswax into place, creating a biological shield while the Raw Honey pulls moisture into the skin.
5. REPURPOSE: Rub any leftover balm from your "dig" into your cuticles or dry knuckles. On a working farm, nothing goes to waste.
Why it Works
-
Biomimetic Nourishment: Unlike petroleum-based balms that simply sit on top of the skin, our House-Rendered Tallow mimics the fatty acid profile of your own skin cells, allowing the vitamins to penetrate deeply.
-
The Honey Lock: By applying to warm, slightly hydrated lips, the Raw Honey acts as a humectant, pulling moisture into the tissue before the Beeswax and Lanolin create a breathable, waterproof seal.
-
Artisan Tip: For an overnight deep-conditioning treatment, apply a slightly thicker layer just before bed. You will wake up with the symphony of oils still protecting your skin, leaving your lips soft and resilient for the day ahead.
